Plain Rice Recipe
Like everything else, cooking rice is easy–once you know how to do it.

Cooking time: 15-30 minutes

 

Serves: 3-4
All Year

For white rice: In a saucepan bring to a boil:
    2 cups water
    1 pinch salt

While water is coming to a boil, thoroughly rinse for several minutes:
    1 cup white rice

Add rice to water, reduce heat, cover and simmer over low heat until all water is absorbed. Turn off heat and let stand, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.


For brown rice: In a saucepan bring to a boil:
    2½ cups water
    1 cup brown rice (rinsed several times)
    1 pinch salt

Reduce heat, cover and simmer over low heat until all water is absorbed. Turn off heat and let stand, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.
