Maple Sesame Tofu Recipe
Surprisingly sweet and savory. A real crowd pleaser! Good served cold as a “to go” lunch.
Preparation time: 15 minutes |
Serves: 4 |
Mix in a bowl:
2 tablespoons maple syrup
3 tablespoons tamari or Bragg Liquid Aminos
2 tablespoons canola or sun?ower oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger juice*
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Drain:
1 pound firm tofu (not silken)
Slice each cube of tofu in half (lengthwise, so you have 2 squares the same size as the original, except half as thick). Cut each half into two triangles or rectangles, so each cube of tofu makes four pieces. Arrange tofu pieces on baking pan about 1" apart. Pour the mixture over the tofu slices. Allow to marinate for 20–60 minutes, turn pieces over and bake at 350° for approximately 20 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
*Grate ginger root, place small amount at a time into your palm, and squeeze juice into a bowl. Discard ginger pulp. You can also use a garlic press to squeeze fresh ginger: Place grated, unpeeled ginger in garlic press and squeeze juice into a bowl.
