Natural Building with Spirit
Work Study Program

1-month minimum stay

Available May through October, 2014

All work/study participants will start with one week of service and classes at The Expanding Light. During this week you will have classes on natural building, simple living techniques, community living, yoga, and meditation. This is to help each participant understand and realize the potential of cooperative living and Natural Building.

The Natural Living School participants join our program to learn more about natural building, the yogic path, and meditation, as well as to deepen and explore their spiritual life, and to experience life in an ashram environment. We honor your spiritual quest and your desire to learn to live a more natural life.

The Work/Study program is for people who can’t attend the extended time frame of the Apprenticeship program. You can sign up for a minimum of 1 month, or as long as 3 months. You will join in the ongoing day-to-day activities of the natural building projects, lectures, and permaculture gardening.

Work/Study participants will work 40 hours per week:

• 24 hours per week will be devoted to Natural Building
• 12 hours per week will be a service program at The Expanding Light, Ananda’s Yoga and Meditation retreat
• 4 hours per week will be learning and working in the permaculture garden

In exchange for your service at The Expanding Light, you will have the opportunity to participate in The Art & Science of Raja Yoga classes, meditation classes, daily sadhanas, three amazing vegetarian meals a day, and a full camping site.

Topics and lectures on natural building, along with hands-on experience, will be determined by the length and timing of your stay. The Apprentices will also serve as teachers and help fill you in on subjects already covered before your arrival.

The cost for the Natural Living Work/Study program will be $650 per month. This cost includes classes, food, and a camping site. There is a one-time fee of $200, to cover educational expenses. This fee will be required at registration and is non-refundable.

The work/study program is on a month-by-month approval, based on review between you and the staff. You may be asked to leave the program, or you may choose to leave the program anytime that either you or we feel participation is no longer beneficial.

This program is available during the camping season, May through October.
